Hi Ben, Thanks very much for considering. I understand focusing on the livestream aspect. I think when I signed up I was thinking it was a bit more for both. I am working on an on demand video course to run on HeySummit as well and was hoping to be able to just use these platforms to create it. From the chat yesterday, I wasn't the only one wanting this ability so perhaps farther down the line it will happen. Would it still work for me to use it as you described yesterday, on private to record live in HeyStream and then use Vimeo to get it in HeySummit, or would you prefer I just use a different method for my HeySummit event overall? I do hope to use HeyStream for lives eventually but this first event I'm running is intentionally all prerecorded and on demand. The video course will likely combine both, in which I can use HeyStream live in HeySummit as you intended. Thanks for the reply and I look forward to the next live to see what else is new.
Yes you could certainly use it in that way, though note that after the beta finishes in a few weeks, you will need a full HeyStream subscription to create live streams / recordings etc outside of HeySummit (which it sounds like you would need).
Great, I will give it a go so I can get familiar and also offer feedback during beta. To clarify, I have a lifetime subscription to HeySummit and the Success Plan so am I only going to have the ability to use HeyStream via it for live-streaming within HeySummit unless I also get a subscription to HeyStream? In which case I will have full access as I do now to my account here? I thought you were going to include it somewhat for Success and then perhaps an add on if someone needs more than whatever you decide to cap it at. I am not sure why I would need both since the live aspect is minimal for me. I can see why those who stream live a lot would.
Yep basically if you are on the HeySummit Success plan then we will be including capped usage of HeyStream - but strictly only when that event is being run from HeySummit (i.e. you'll be able to run live sessions for your HeySummit talks and access the HeyStream streaming studio for those talks, but you wont have full access to the heyStream platform itself (i.e. to create additional workspaces, manage presenters, widgets, CRM, analytics etc). A separate HeyStream subscription will be needed for that im afraid.
Thanks, Ben. I have thought about this and I am still going to play around with things during the beta to learn and offer feedback. I chose HeySummit so I can do it all in one as much as possible so think that will fit my needs best for now. I am planning to use the HeyStream option within HeySummit soon for an interview for my event coming up so I'll be able to see how it goes right from in there. Will I be able to record a 30-40 minute session with the current cap you have?
Yep a 30-40 live session is absolutely within the limits of the Success plan. However, just note that we havent 100% decided what those limits are going to be yet. We'll be deciding this and announcing details once the beta has finished.
Hi Lara, Thanks so much for posting this and for participating in the live stream yesterday. I've been giving this a lot of thought since then, and if I'm being totally honest, I think it's too early for us to consider optimising HeyStream around your particular use case. The whole point of HeyStream is to facilitate live streams, and so I don't think it makes sense today to look at optimising workflows so that you can use HeyStream and HeySummit for a non-live experience. We may add support for this in the future, but on reflection I don't think it makes sense for us to offer that exact use case at this moment in time. Apologies for giving you false hope yesterday, but we're really keen to make sure that we deliver a razor-focused product in HeyStream that does one job incredibly well, and that's basically helping our customers go live in front of an audience of viewers. I'll mark this item as closed for now, but I will of course keep it in the back of my mind if anything changes further down the line.
